ACRA — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties Announces Spring Gardening Days 2023. On March 25 and April 1, join the Master Gardener Volunteers of Columbia and Greene Counties for the annual Spring Gardening Days. This year we will have six presentations/workshops to learn the various aspects of tending to your garden. This year you can sign up for one or more of the following courses:

March 25, Extension Education Center, 479 Route 66, Hudson, 9 a.m. Gardening for Pollinators; 9 a.m. Guarding the Garden From Deer and Other Wildlife; 10:30 a.m. The Family Planting Playbook; noon Creating a Cutting Garden. April 1 Agroforestry Resource Center, 6055 Route 23, Acra, 10:30 a.m. Garden Design; noon Build Your Own Worm Bin. The Master Gardener Volunteers will be on hand both days to answer your gardening questions, test soil samples, and show you around our campuses. There will be a book sale and refreshments. COXSACKIE — The Coxsackie United Methodist Church, 103 Mansion St., Coxsackie, Spring Fair will take place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. March 25. There will be crafts and Easter gifts along with a food sale. Breakfast sandwiches will be served 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The church is handicapped accessible.

TANNERSVILLE — The Mountain Top Arboretum, 4 Maude Adams Road, Tannersville presents Learn to Identify Trees in Winter with Rich Ring 10 a.m.-noon March 25. Ring is a botanist and ecologist. Even in winter, even without leaves, our tree friends are still present, and are each distinctive enough to be identified. In this workshop we will first look at twigs, needles and fruit of some trees in the classroom, and then head out and look at the bark, branching and form unique to each species. Special attention will also be given to traditional medicinal and cultural significance of certain species, and the stories they tell. Dress warmly, and bring a hand lens or magnifying glass if you have one. This is an in-person event. Admission is free for members and $10 suggested donation for non-members. ALBANY — The Capital District Genealogical Society of New York presents The DAR and Genealogical Records 1-2:30 p.m. March 25 via Zoom. Speaker Kristen Moore will give a quick overview of the DAR’s purpose. She will then focus on the genealogical records that the DAR holds, how to use the DAR’s website from home, and how to order the records to continue your research. The Zoom presentation allows a maximum of 100 participants. At this time only members are invited to register. Registration will be open to all on March 16 if there are places remaining. GREENVILLE — The Greenville Public Library, 11177 Route 32, Greenville, will hold a book sale 10 a.m.-3 p.m. April 1 upstairs at the library. Fill a bag with hardcovers, paperbacks, DVDS, CDS and puzzles for $5; or books for 25 cents. The library has bags.

TROY — Hudson Valley Community College will host an open house for prospective students from 9 a.m.-noon April 1 on the college’s main campus. Attendees will be able to tour the campus and speak with representatives from academic departments as well as the college’s student services and academic support offices, including Admissions and Financial Aid. Hudson Valley, a two-year community college that is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolls nearly 8,000 students in more than 80 degree and certificate programs each year. Tuition for the current academic year is $2,400 per semester, plus fees, for New York State residents.
