Ralph A. Schauber Ralph Allen Schauber (1945-2024) of Marion, Illiniois, died on March 21, 2024 after prolonged illness. He was born in Jacksonville (Camp LeJeune), North Carolina on September 21, 1945 as the only child to Joseph Edward and Shirley Arlene (Razzette) Schauber. Following his parents' divorce his mother remarried and then the family settled in Catskill, New York. After graduating from Catskill High School, he enlisted in the Marines in 1964. While in the Marines, he served in Vietnam as an Aviation Electronics Technician from 1966-1967. Following his return from Vietnam, he married his high school sweetheart, Sally B. Buckley in 1967. Over the next 10 years, they lived in Georgia, New Jersey and upstate New York and had three children, eventually settling in Maynard, Massachusetts. In his early career, he worked as a computer field service technician and then shifted from hardware to software engineering during his 25+ years working for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). Ralph retired from DEC in 1992. Then, following divorce in 2002 he moved to Easton, MD and then to Marion, Illinois in 2006.

Ralph was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Heath, stepfather Anthony Schultz, father J. Edward Schauber Sr., stepmother Doris Schauber, sister Betty Elliott and brother David Schauber. He is survived by daughter Cherylene Schauber Plewa of Burlington, Massachusetts, son Eric Schauber (Marisa) of Monticello, Illinois, son Thomas Schauber of Acton, Massachusetts as well as five grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Anthony Schultz, Joseph Edward Schauber Jr. (Terese), Ronald Schauber (Terry), and Joyce Fisher as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.
